About Kappa Delta
Kappa Delta Sorority was founded in 1897 at State Female Normal School, now Longwood University, in Farmville, Va. The thought that 125 years ago four young women could just sit down and create a sisterhood as enduring as Kappa Delta sometimes defies understanding, but that's exactly what they did.
Today, Kappa Delta is an impressive nationwide organization that reaches far beyond the local chapter. We have more than 288,000 initiated members, 168 active collegiate chapters across the country and more than 530 chartered alumnae chapters nationwide. Led by an elected National Council, hundreds of national volunteers and a professional staff numbering over 50, we have a network of sisters and friends around the world who come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Together, Kappa Deltas impact the lives of members and those in need around the world. Contributions to the Kappa Delta Foundation from alumnae, collegians and friends of Kappa Delta enable the sorority to further its philanthropic efforts, providing support for the sorority’s national philanthropies, numerous local community outreach programs, as well as scholarships and educational opportunities for members.
We have chosen to become Kappa Deltas because we believe that, in some way, all of us can be better together than each of us can be alone. That is the strength of Kappa Delta.

About City Of Chicago, IL Alumnae Chapter
The City of Chicago Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter is open to all KD initiates living in the City of Chicago area. Our goal is to inspire participation and strengthen the bond among Kappa Delta alumnae in Chicago. Established in 2018, we have created a community of sisterhood within our city and beyond! Our chapter thrives on connecting our members within our vast network of alum by creating meaningful in-person events, and interactive social media content. Participating in these events is not just about revisiting the past; it's about building a network of support and friendship that lasts a lifetime. Whether you're looking to reconnect with old friends, make new connections, or give back to the community, our events offer a variety of opportunities for everyone.We are honored to be the supporting alumni chapter to Loyola University Chicago Kappa Delta Theta Upsilon and Northwestern University Kappa Delta Lambda chapters.
